King Solomon's Wisdom

Hello Ladies, as I promised in an earlier post here is an explanation of the pendant I wear all the time. It was given to me by a close friend from Israel, hence why it is all in hebrew and is one of many different pendants that bring you different gifts in life. Mine is called the Wishes Seal and it is believed that  this seal blesses people with compassion and helps them to fulfil their wishes. It enables people to understand that the most important desire is to desire to know themselves, to decipher their wishes and to connect with the inner self. This creates awareness and helps people reach equilibrium, serenity and faith in the process of living.

The star of David has a bigger significance then most people are aware of, it is not only a symbol of Judaism but a connection with the both earth and the Universe: a symbol of the connection between the two worlds. It symbolizes the link between science, beauty and metaphysics, with elements of medicine and magic, astronomy and astrology, the art of irrigation and its influence on the garden, and the symbolic connection between pleasure gardens and the Garden of Eden, between the sky and architectural domes and on traditional cosmology and its connection to religion.

But who is King Solomon you may ask? The Book of Kings [Melachim 1 3:12] states that "Israel's great King Solomon was twelve years old when God promised him that he would be granted great wisdom. He turned out to be the wisest man ever to live". He is in fact, the first major recorded and published decision in the history of legal jurisprudence. The story is as follows (many of you may already be familiar with the story as I was):

Two women came to King Solomon and stood before him. One woman (#1) said: "My Lord, this woman and I dwell in the same house, and I gave birth to a child while with her in the house. On the third day after I gave birth, she also gave birth. We live together; there is no outsider with us in the house; only the two of us were there. The son of this woman died during the night because she lay upon him. She arose during the night and took my son from my side while I was asleep, and lay him in her bosom, and her dead son she laid in my bosom. when I got up in the morning to nurse my son, behold, he was dead! But when I observed him (later on) in the morning, I realized that he was not my son to whom I had given birth!"
The other woman (#2) replied: "It is not so! My son is the live one and your son is the dead one!"
The first woman (#1) responded: "It is not so! Your son is the dead one and my son is the living one!"
They argued before King Solomon.
King Solomon said: "this woman (#2) claims 'My son is the live one and your son is the dead one, 'and this woman (#1) claims 'Your son is the dead one and my son is the living one!"'
King Solomon said, "Bring me a sword!" So they brought a sword before the King. The King said, "Cut the living child in two, and give half to one and half to the other"
The woman (#2) turned to the King, because her compassion was aroused for her son, and said: "Please my Lord, give her the living child and do not kill it!"
But the other woman (#1) said: "Neither mine nor yours shall he be. Cut!"

The King spoke up and said: "Give her (#2) the living child, and do not kill it, for she is his mother!" All of Israel heard the judgment that the King had judged. They had great awe for the King, for they saw that the wisdom of God was within him to do justice. [I Melachim 3:16 - 27]. The woman was rightfully awarded custody of her son.

So there you have it! That is why I am so in love with my amulet; because there is so much history and belief behind it and the symbol embedded on the silver. It is not just a pretty necklace and that's why I hold it so close to my heart.

After all that I think I need a break! So I will let you get off and enjoy this beautiful sunny Saturday!
Have a wonderful weekend and feel free to let me know what you think about this amulet and anything you feel strongly about!

Suitcase Magazine

Hello Ladies! Today's post is about Suitcase Magazine, a magazine that looks at my two favourite things in the world; fashion and travel. I know it is not a new magazine but I have been trying to find somewhere to buy it from, for some time and found it randomly sitting among the magazines at my Uni. So I grabbed it quick as there was only two left, and indulged myself in some cultured reading.

The most impressive part of the magazine for me is the photography and the imagery used. The colours are so vibrant and the compositions are very dynamic. I love how the type of paper changes throughout the magazine from glossy to rough depending on the amount of photography the article uses.

Overall, an excellent read! I will have to purchase many more, if not all!!

And with that I leave you ladies to enjoy a wonderful, sunny weekend! If you know of any other magazines that are similar, just let me know! Finding new publications is always exciting.

Hello Ladies,
Today I tried something a little bit different from what I usually wear. This dress was given to me from a friend of my mums (which explains why it looks a bit mummy-like). Anyways, I have had it in my wardrobe for about two years and have only worn it twice before. I decided to pair it up with some biker boots to give it a younger feel and my casual coat to stay clear of that mummy look wrap dresses can give at times.

I wore Zara black boots, plain black tights, Secondhand dress and Zara Kaki coat.

This picture shows a Necklace I was recently given by a friend who is from Israel (a beautiful place to go on holiday). It is a sort of lucky charm from the King Solomon. I will go into more detail in a future post as it is very interesting stuff!

I will have to love you and leave you now, as, once again I must get on with some work...

London Calling

Hello again! So, last week I went to London with my uni to look at fashion exhibitions and a little peek at London Fashion Week.
I went to the Fashion and Textiles Museum to see an exhibition on artist fabrics, created by artists like Picasso, Dali and Warhol.
It was full of vibrant colours and patterns that were sometimes so detailed they made your eyes go funny. All in all, a lovely exhibition which I highly recommend, especially to art and/or textiles lovers.

That day I wore, my black over-the-knee boots from a second hand shop in Mallorca, black leggings from Primark, a green checked shirt from Tommy Hilfiger, Next fluffy jumper and my black Missselfridge coat.

I hope your weekend was lovely and good luck with this week!
I know its only Monday and everything feels a lot worse then it is but actually, my trick to deal with it is very simple (and a bit infantile) but it works every time!
I simply slide on my pair of I hate Mondays knickers from Victoria Secret's Pink collection and I let Monday know just how I feel! Take that Monday!

Anyways, I must go now and do some studying... oh the joys of being a student.

Tartan Treasure

Another grey day here in Southampton. These photos were taken a few days ago though when there was no rain 24hrs a day!

I thought that in this post I would share with you my beloved tartan trousers from H&M, They are my babes and for £14 they were a bargain! (although they are ever so slightly too short on me. But nothing new there...)

I wore my black lace shoes, green tartan trousers, white top and black Primark scarf.

In my last post I forgot to mention my new layout! I hope you all like it! I decided it was time to make it my own as previously my blog was designed by fellow blogger Hannah Wilkinson from Dimplesdiaries who has a lot of experience when it comes to blogs as she has her very own.

I hope you all have a lovely day and if not pop by Hannah's blog it is sure to perk you up!

See you soon!

Blue Flowers

I decided that for this post I would make more of an effort for you girls and wear an actual dress as its seems a lifetime ago since I wore one!

I wore Zara ankle boots, black tights, Misselfridge velvet dress, my next fluffy jumper from my previous post and Zara kaki coat.

I do not wear this dress or in fact any very often as Southampton is so ridiculously windy and you spend all day holding it down or accidentally showing you knickers to random people on the street. Another reason is that I have recently decided that the dresses I own are simply too short on me... and although many people see these long legs as a blessing I see them as a curse when it comes to clothing them.

But enough complaining, I have finally put a post up!

So on that positive note I will love you and leave you. Till next time!

Good Old England

Hello you! Long time no see! I'm afraid the Christmas holidays gobbled me up and would not allow me to return until fellow blogger Hannah dragged me out of my soft, warm Pyjamas and shoved me out the front door to get some much needed fresh air.

So here is my attempt to get back into the real world, and yes my face says it all... not very amused!
However, I am finally getting my ass back into gear as they say and slowly slowly I will get back to blogging more and making an effort to get dressed!

I wore my new boots from my Mum, Zara summer jeans, black fluffy Next jumper, Black Primark Snood, my coat and handbag (the old faithfuls).

So there you go! I am back and here to stay (good news I hope!).
I hope all of you have had a brilliant Christmas and that this year is good to you all!
